Dr Xi Liu works from a strength-based solutions-focused approach; clients are an expert to their lives and the therapist is an understanding and patient coach. The therapeutic relationship should be set in a foundation of trust and mutual respect.
Dr Liu's mission in creating Life Therapy NYC was to reduce the stigma of seeking support for mental health. Therapy can be seen as a “gym for the mind” - and sessions ought to be accessible from a financial and cultural point of view. These values are strongly reflected in her authentic and genuine therapy approach. Life Therapy is tailored to individual needs and personal problems are not pathologized.
